Spotlight on Julian Lampert: Composer and Concert Pianist

Today's “In The Picture” features Julian Lampert: Composer, Concert Pianist & Versatile Virtuoso.

The portrait shoot with Julian took place against the charming backdrop of Bruges. With some timeless shots at the Rombouts piano store (because, where else would you capture a musician at his best?) and in Bruges' historic, winding streets. The rainy weather only added to the mystical feel of wintertime Bruges.

Julian is no ordinary pianist; he’s a musical chameleon, playing and composing across classical, jazz, Latin, and multi-genre styles. From film scores to solo concert pieces, Julian’s fingers dance across genres just as they do over the keys. Born in Russia, with Polish and French roots, Julian’s career began early under the guidance of his mother, a seasoned musician herself. After studying with maestros like Dorothy Taubman and working alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lewis Spratlan, Julian embarked on a musical journey that’s taken him around the world. Now, Belgium has the pleasure of hosting him—lucky us!

During our shoot, Julian’s connection to his craft was clear. At Rombouts, he was completely at home among the pianos, treating me to a wonderful concert as I captured the moment.

Thank you, Julian, for this inspiring session.
