Saving food is the new way of shopping
Did you know that 18 million tons of food are wasted in Germany every year? That corresponds to a truck load per minute! According to WWF, 10 million tons of this can be avoided. This is where SIRPLUS comes into play ...
SIRPLUS is a Germany-wide social impact startup that saves excess, “imperfect” or expired (but still very edible!) Food from waste. Rescuing is not done at supermarkets, but at manufacturers and producers, logisticians and wholesalers, where larger quantities occur.
SIRPLUS brings this food that the food bank cannot pick up back into the cycle: In five Berlin rescue markets and in the online shop (www.sirplus.de), food saving is available to everyone.
The mission of SIRPLUS is not only to make food saving mainstream, but also to encourage society, politics and the economy to rethink. Saving valuable resources also makes an important contribution to sustainable consumption and climate protection. Since 2017, SIRPLUS has already saved over 3,500 tons of food!

I've tested out the SIRPLUS Bio+Vegan box and it was like opening a treasure box...
This week I've been cooking a whole week with anti-food waste ingredients and I discovered a lot of new products and tastes!
Anti-food waste breakfast: Oatmeal bowl with:
SIRPLUS Flaxseed: the 'best before date' is almost there, so this product can't be sold in the regular stores anymore, but the seeds are still perfectly well to eat!
SIRPLUS Banana powder: the 'best before date' is almost there, so this product can't be sold in the regular stores anymore, but the powder are still delicious in oatmeal and smoothies!
SIRPLUS Ingwer Latte: the 'best before date' is almost there, so this product can't be sold in the regular stores anymore, but the latte powder with inger & kurkuma is still so good! I've added ice-cubes to make an iced-latte , as it was so hot this week.
A 'misfit' pear from my Etepetete-box: it doesn't look 'perfect' but tastes more than perfect!
Anti-food waste snack: Feel Good Bites
SIRPLUS Feel Good Bites: 'My actual best before date is three months longer than the date written on my back. Unfortunately, that wasn't changed in time, that's why I'm now spraying my charm here in the shop.'
(I got the ones with chocolate instead of Matcha)
Anti-food waste lunch: Lentil Lunch Bowl
SIRPLUS Bio Lunch Bowl: dried lentils with herbs and vegetables, you only have to add hot water.
I added some fresh carrots and bell pepper from my Etepetete Box
I added some fresh parley from my windowsill 'garden
Anti-food waste snack: nuts and limonade
SIRPLUS Brasil Nuts
SIRPLUS limonade: 'Freak of Nature': the 'best before date' is almost there, so this product can't be sold in the regular stores anymore, but I finished this drink long before the 'best before date'! ;)
Anti-food waste dinner: pasta with vegetable saus and hummus
Lupinen Fusilli via SIRPLUS: the 'best before date' is almost there, so this product can't be sold in the regular stores anymore, but dry pasta stays so much longer good! (And it doesn't last long on our cupboard ;)).
I made vegetable saus with vegetables from my Etepetete Box.
I made hummus from some leftover chickpeas from a previous dish.
Thank you, SIRPLUS, for letting me try out your Bio-box!
I had a very tasty week!
